The Rocky Broad River enters the county at the Henderson County line and runs to the US 64/74 Bridge, carrying the entire county stocking program in a 2.7-mile corridor. No Delayed Harvest, no fall stocking, no lakes. If you're fishing trout in Rutherford County, you're fishing the Rocky Broad. Plan your trip around March or May and you'll find fresh fish in a stream that doesn't get the same pressure as the higher-profile waters over the ridge in Henderson and Polk counties.
The Rocky Broad River is the only stocked trout water in Rutherford County. All 2,946 fish stocked in 2026 go into this one 2.7-mile section. The May stocking is slightly heavier than March — 1,531 versus 1,415 — making the spring May window the peak event. The Henderson County line at the upper boundary connects to a separate stocking program in Henderson County; confirm regulations on the upper end if fishing near the county line.
