Running low on Blue Winged Olives mid-hatch is a specific kind of frustration. So is reaching for a Prince Nymph in stained water and finding you're down to one. The Essentials is built so neither of those happens.

82 dry flies and nymphs selected for what actually catches trout. The Blue Winged Olive when the sky clouds over and fish start rising. The Prince Nymph when the water runs stained and you need something that moves. The Hare's Ear when they're feeding subsurface and nothing flashy is working. Every pattern is here for a reason. None of them look good in a shop and never get tied on.

These patterns cover the full season wherever trout are found: spring caddis hatches on freestone streams, Delayed Harvest sections from October through April, low clear flows on tailwaters in winter. A Blue Winged Olive hatch on the Tuckasegee looks the same to a trout as one on the South Platte. The Hare's Ear that produces on a pressured Pennsylvania spring creek works the same way on a WNC freestone stream.

82 flies in a water-resistant, slim-profile box with a silicone insert. At a fly shop, a comparable selection runs $2–$4+ per fly. The Essentials lands at under $1 per fly with the box included.

Fly selection may vary slightly from product photos based on availability of materials.
